COSE believes that broad public support is key to making our vision become reality. Thus, it is important to get as many people and organizations involved as possible to spread the idea of an age-friendly and inclusive society.
Through our volunteer program, we want to offer hands-on opportunities to support COSE’s work. The time and skills volunteers provide are as valuable as monetary donations.
Types of Volunteers
- Volunteers for general support. Any person who offers his/her time to accomplish tasks related to COSE’s advocacy or program activities; i.e. participating in information and education campaigns, support during special events, Group Home.
- Professional Volunteers. Any person – local or international – who offers to share his/her specific expertise, skills, and/or knowledge with COSE as pro bono services; i.e. researcher, consultant (communication, marketing, fundraising, etc.), web designer, videographer.
- Community Volunteers. Any person who is a resident of a community/barangay where COSE is implementing a project and whose volunteering is related to the project activities; i.e. OPO members taking charge of specific tasks.
- Corporate Volunteers. Employees of public institutions and private business companies whose volunteering is part of their institution’s/company’s corporate social responsibility program. Need of Memorandum of Agreement between COSE and the institution.
- Interns. Any person who renders community/field or office-based work daily for a previously determined period to gain specific work experience. COSE and the intern will develop Terms of Reference (ToR) as a framework for the internship. Internships can be but don’t have to be, related to programs of high schools, vocational schools, colleges, and universities (i.e. thesis, project work, mandatory internship). In case of a mandatory internship, thesis, or project work: need for a Memorandum of Agreement between COSE and the institution.
Old people are honored in the Philippines but aging is not. Beyond all the good programs (health care, advocacy ,etc) my deepest wish is that both older people and society look at aging differently and older people become who they are supposed to be… at the peak and not end of a lifetime of growth and hence invaluable to themselves and others.
